Studio Roosegaarde is the social design lab of artist Daan Roosegaarde with his team of designers and engineers. By creating interactive designs that instinctively respond to sound and movement, Roosegaarde explores the dawn of a new nature that is evolving from technological innovations.
LOTUS 7.0 is a living wall composed of smart foils that fold open in response to human behavior. Walking by LOTUS, hundreds of aluminum foils unfold themselves in an organic way; generating transparent voids between private and public.
Material and technology
A curved wall of 4 x 2 meters with hundreds of smart foils, lamps, sensors, software and other media.
Use of hundreds of smart foils, when you stand near by and heat it a little bit they fold open.
The result is a merge between architecture, nature and technology. The wall reacts to you, lights up and opens up so that you can also look through. It is about hiding and showing information and sharing this collective experience.
